The Woodbridge invitational is always one of the highlights
of the season. The weather was perfect
for racing, the meet was fast, and the excitement level was unbelievable! While we have two very long nights, and lots
of work to do, the benefit of having night racing, and racing on this very fast
course are easy to see. We had 85
athletes get a new PR. Congratulations to the 6 boys who ran a varsity time
(under 16:40) for the first time in this meet, and the 6 girls who also ran a
varsity time (under 20:00) for the first time.
Our teams did well competing in the Division II (Gold). The JV girls got 5th, Freshman
Girls got 3rd, Freshman boys
got 2nd. In the Rated Races,
the girls team took 9th, and the Rated boys took 4th.
Woodbridge Boys team ranked 19th out of 237
schools competing, with a combined time
of 77:07 (fastest time ever at this meet).
This compares to 79:58 in ‘12, 77:50 in ’11, 78:02 in ‘10, 78:51 in ’09 78:42 in ’08, 79:23 in ’07, 79:11 in ’06, 82:56 in ’05, 83:35 in ’04, 83:03 in ’03, 82:50 in
’02, 83:31 in ’01, 85:13 in ’00, and 86:25 in ’99.
Woodbridge
Girls ranked 27th out of 236 teams, with a combined time of
92:04. This compares to 91:17 in ’12, 88:34 ’11, 92:04 ’10, 95:29 in ’09, 96:00 in ’08, 91:03 in ’07, 91:03 in ’06, 92:02 in ’05,
95:37 in ’04, 92:33 in ’03, 95:30 in ’02, 94:53 in ’01, 96:31 in ’00, &
95:11 in ’99 (State champs)
Athlete of the
meet:
Jackson Marshall
was the 17th fastest runner of the meet (both nights, all races),
with a time of 14:39 (PR) winning the boys Rated race. That time moves Jackson up to the #2 spot in
Woodbridge history.
Maddy Bradford was
the top varsity runner (17:40), and 58th
overall for the girls.
This Week:
Sunny Hills invitational.
It is on Friday Sept 27th this year, at Craig Park. There will be busses to and from the meet. We will be leaving school at 12:30.
